Support Marijuana by Searching the Internet

GoodSearch: Support a Cause of your Choice

You can actually support the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP), National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), Green Aid – Medical Marijuana Legal Defense and Education Fund or Maine Medical Marijuana Resource Center (MRC) anytime you search the internet.  All you have to do is go to GoodSearch.  Once you get to their homepage, you can choose from thousands of charities, schools or nonprofit organizations to support.  Can’t find the one you really want to raise money for?  That’s fine.  Add your favorite one!

GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

How does it work?  After selecting the organization you would like to support, search the internet as usual.  GoodSearch is powered by Yahoo, so you do get reliable search results.  Revenue is generated from the sponsored search advertisers and 50% of it is shared with the charity, school or nonprofit organization you chose.  You’re probably asking where the heck this money is coming from?  Plus, why are they giving money away so you don’t have to?  Well, the search engines make their money from the companies that pay to advertise on their site.  GoodSearch actually has a patent on the way they track and direct the search-generated money to charities.  This means half of the advertising money goes to your organization.

The really awesome thing about this is that you don’t have to even do anything do support a good cause.  No money comes out of your pocket.  You can even do a simple signup through your gmail, yahoo, or other linked  accounts.  You can skip adding a toolbar or GoodDining signup.  You can register and be earning money for your organization in under a minute.  Really.  That fast.  Free and simple.  Try it out.  It’s really worth it.  Your organization will get something from nothing.  You’re searching just like you would be anyway.

The First Pot POW

Reblogged from NORML.  I actually was unaware of this before reading it today.  I’m wondering how many of you out there knew about it?  Crazy to think how quickly things can change over one poor judgement call.

After a decade of U.S. government scare propaganda that convinced Americans that crazed Mexicans, blacks and fans of jazz clubs were pushing marijuana “reefers” on school children and honest youths, turning them into raving murderers, politicians decided to act.

The First Pot POW

The U.S. Congress passed the Marijuana Tax Stamp Act. Growing and selling marijuana were still legal, but only if you bought a $1 government stamp. And that stamp was not for sale.

On the day the Marijuana Tax Stamp Act was enacted — Oct. 2, 1937 — the FBI and Denver, Colo., police raided the Lexington Hotel and arrested Samuel R. Caldwell, 58, an unemployed labourer and Moses Baca, 26. On Oct. 5, Caldwell went into the history trivia books as the first marijuana seller convicted under U.S. federal law. His customer, Baca, was found guilty of possession.   Continue reading
